Anti-Jewish attacks in Europe in the first three months of 2009 exceeds the 2008 total

Jewish communities in Scandinavia come under special attack despite their tiny populations. from Haaretz:

The report cites the reaction to this past January's Israel Defense Forces operation in Gaza as one of the key triggers of anti-Semitic attacks against Jewish communities in Europe. In addition, the current financial crisis is giving rise to age-old anti-Semitic stereotypes suggesting "Jewish control of the global financial system."

EJC members from all over Europe who gathered in Brussels for the special session reported a significant rise in the number of anti-Semitic incidents. The head of official Jewry in Finland, Rony Smolar, said that the 25,000-strong Jewish community living in the Scandinavian countries is subject to repeated harassment due to its support for Israel.

Smolar said that Molotov cocktails have been thrown into synagogues and Jewish cemeteries in Sweden and Norway have been vandalized. He also cited a shooting incident in which two Israelis were wounded by a gunman in Denmark during Operation Cast Lead.

"Cartoons likening the Star of David to the Nazi swastika have become commonplace in Scandinavia," Smolar said.

Interview with brave Danish politician

Naser Khader is a naturalized Danish citizen of Arab origin, a conservative member of Denmark's parliament, and an outspoken critic of political Islam. In this interview he defends Geert Wilders and promotes his Freedom of Speech Conference in Denmark. Mr. Khader puts native-born European politicians to shame with his courage; publicly confronting Islam is much more dangerous for a perceived apostate like him than for a run-of-the-mill European infidel.

EU suddenly grows balls when it comes to bullying Jews

The European Union somehow mustered the courage to warn Israeli PM-designate Benjamin Netanyahu that 'relations will become very difficult' unless he supports the creation of a Fatah/Hamas state in the West Bank and Gaza. Of course it's easier for Europeans to stand up to Jews than Muslims because it's unlikely that their home Jewish populations will react with rioting and bombings.

"We Europeans are insisting that whatever the weighting is in the two governments (Israeli and Palestinian), the creation of a two-state solution must stand first and foremost," German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said."

An EU official can't seem to get through a single statement about the Middle East without equating the democratic and pluralistic government in Israel to the fascist kleptocracy in the West Bank and the Sharia-theocracy in the Gaza Strip

"We should not always have to start from the beginning again -- that is my urgent appeal," he told reporters at talks with EU counterparts in the Czech Republic.

God forbid, we wouldn't want to waste time going back to the beginning again just because one party in the "peace process" openly calls for the destruction of the other.

The leaders and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran react to Obama's Nowruz message with paranoia and contempt...

Are Americans expected to enthusiastically rally behind the "Overseas Contingency Operation"?

Of course not, and that's the point. This administration does not believe we are at war and so they are not making any provisions to win that war. Sometimes it's easy to be lulled into a false sense of security about the United States. Europe is a hotter theater in the conflict with Islam but in some respects the upper-echelons or our government are just as Dhimmified as the EU. The "War on Terror" was already a bow to political correctness because it did not mention Jihad or Islam. This new phrase is effectively meaningless. If you can't name the enemy you can't defeat him, it's as simple as that.

The End of the Global War on Terror

The end of the Global War on Terror -- or at least the use of that phrase -- has been codified at the Pentagon. Reports that the phrase was being retired have been circulating for some time amongst senior administration officials, and this morning speechwriters and other staff were notified via this e-mail to use "Overseas Contingency Operation" instead.

One leading option was to change the name to GSAVE, or Global Struggle Against Violent Extremism. This was not as catchy an acronym as GWOT, but officials felt it more accurately described the battle.Then-Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld even used the GSAVE abbreviation publicly.

But, in a White House meeting, President Bush ruled that it was still a war for him, and Rumsfeld and everyone else went back to GWOT.

I feel wistful for the relative moral clarity of George Bush. Now that's a sad commentary.

A skeptic's guide to President Obama's "Nowruz Address"

On March 20, 2009 President Obama delivered an address to the Islamic Republic of Iran on the occasion of Nowruz (the Persian New Year). This bit of appeasement rubbed me the wrong way. It would take a feature-length film or perhaps a university-level course to deconstruct the absurd piece of post-modern street-theater that our President just unleashed upon us.

Instead I stuck with one dimension of criticism and focused on two or three relevant points among dozens. I didn't like President Obama's YouTube video so I made a YouTube video in response. Here it is, savor it:

A full transcript with sourcing follows:

"Today I want to extend my very best wishes to all who are celebrating Nowruz around the world."

Mr. Obama must be aware that about six million of those celebrating Nowruz around the world today are Bahai. The Bahai faith originated in the mid-19th century in Shiraz, Iran. Its prophet is regarded as the most recent in a line that includes Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Krishna, Zoroaster, Christ and Muhammad. The central theme of the religion is that humanity is one single race and that the day has come for its unification in one global society.

Islamic persecution has driven the Bahai faithful to all corners of the world. Today ironically, or rather fittingly, the Bahai World Centre is located in Haifa, Israel where they have thrived clinging to this small island of religious tolerance in the Islamic Middle East. They preserve beautiful shrines and holy places and maintain the stunning hanging gardens on the slopes of Mt. Carmel. But even in this far corner of the Middle East the long arm of the Islamic Revolution haunts them, and was able to reach them in the summer of 2006, when the Iranian proxy Hezbollah bombarded Haifa with hundreds of rockets.

Despite constant attrition about 300,000 Bahai's miraculously remain in Iran, constituting the country's largest religious minority. They have been systematically persecuted since the Islamic revolution of 1979. More than 200 have been executed, hundreds have been imprisoned, and tens of thousands have been deprived of jobs, pensions, businesses, and educational opportunities. All national and local Bahá'í administrative institutions have been banned by the Government, and Bahá'í holy places, cemeteries and community properties have been confiscated, vandalized, or destroyed.

Mr. Obama's cordial message to the Islamic regime of Iran is a slap in the face to millions of Bahai's across the world.

"Here in the United States our own communities have been enhanced by the contributions of Iranian Americans. We know that you are a great civilization, and your accomplishments have earned the respect of the United States and the world."

Indeed, the United States has been enriched by the creativity and productivity of the approximately half-million Iranians who live among us; but the very reason they are here is that the Islamic regime Mr. Obama addresses so politely drove them out of their ancestral homeland. The majority of Iranian-Americans arrived after the 1979 revolution; these were the intellectuals, physicians, engineers and businesspeople who saw their livelihoods threatened by a totalitarian Islamic regime. About 100,000 or 20% of them are Iranian Jews, who were eager to avoid a life of Dhimmitude under a radical Shi'ite regime governed by Shariah Law.

"Nowruz is just one part of your great and celebrated culture. Over many centuries your art, your music, literature and innovation have made the world a better and more beautiful place."

Indeed, Iranian culture stretches back thousands of years, well before the armies of Islam conquered Persia in the 7th century AD. Art, music and literature once flourished there but the regime Mr. Obama graciously addresses in his video has taken all those things away.

I quote from a 2006 study (HTML) published by the global free expression group, ARTICLE 19 (PDF):

"The direct censorship instruments at the State’s disposal are blunt and wide-ranging: these include highly repressive laws, supported by an array of regulations and guidelines that delineate and restrict what can be expressed, and how it should be done, assisted by a multitude of censors – diverse institutions that will intervene at different stages of the artistic process by assenting to or denying the much needed authorisation.

In the event that the government censorship apparatus presents some small cracks through which “controversial” expressions may be let free, vigilante groups intervene, self-mandated to protect society against “damaging influences” including through the use of force, threats and intimidations. Most powerful, however, is the culture of censorship within Iranian society that has blurred the line between what is imposed by the State and what has become inherent to society itself.

This has resulted in the powerful exercise of social censorship, as well as self-censorship of and by the artist. . In more ways than one, censorship in Iran is the extension of physical power into the realm of the mind and the spirit"

"In particular, I would like to speak directly to the people and leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran... The United States wants the Islamic Republic of Iran to take its rightful place in the community of nations. You have that right -- but it comes with real responsibilities, and that place cannot be reached through terror or arms, but rather through peaceful actions that demonstrate the true greatness of the Iranian people and civilization."

Obama goes out of his way twice to mention the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is the official name of the regime in Tehran. This is a symbolic recognition of the Islamic republic as the rightful heir to the ancient Persian civilization. This only bolsters the power of the regime. As the New York Times noted, this language offered the first clear signal from the Obama administration that it would not pursue a change of government in Iran.

In summation, Obama's communiqué to Iran is not the manifestation of a new era in foreign policy. His is a well-worn foreign policy of appeasing implacable enemies. Obama is insisting to himself and to us as a nation that his peace overtures will somehow be received productively by a regime whose constitution is based directly on the Quran and which has contempt for our very notion of what life is and should be. And so the mutual respect Obama apparently seeks with Iran is by definition impossible. The United States is simply treading water, albeit more eloquently under Obama than under Bush, while our destructive and ultimately self-destructive enemy strengthens itself and prepares for the inevitable conflict.

We have learned that our President can pronounce "Eid-eh Shoma Mobarak", but we have not been given any compelling reason to hope for a non-violent political solution to the confrontation with Iran. It is the most dangerous foreign policy conundrum of our time, and will become increasingly dangerous if Mr. Obama's friendly orations continue with no political horizon in sight.

The mutually beneficial US-Israel relationship

This monologue by Professor Paul Eidelberg aired on Israel National Radio on March 16, 2009.

For anti-Zionists it is an article of faith that US aid to Israel is the only thread keeping the "artificial colonial apartheid-state" alive, and that the US receives little or nothing for its investment. The truth is more complicated. US aid to Israel in 2006 accounted for only 1.3% of Israel's GDP, hardly a decisive sum. Moreover, 74% of that money is required to be spent on the US arms industry creating American jobs. When you factor in Israeli advances in research and development, weapons testing and intelligence, the relationship is a net gain for America in all senses.

"In addition, there is the female terrorist who organized the terror attack, and she will be the first one for me," he said. "She kept on smiling during the trial, and we shall erase her smile. I am mentally and physically ready to send her to the next world. As to the ones who will remain in Palestinian Authority areas, we will implement against them the customary law there: Eye for an eye."

Thanks for the MEMRIs

MEMRI is the premier resource for translated TV/video content from the Middle East. The savvy American news-consumer may read English-language articles about Middle East politics or hear Arab/Islamic leaders make speeches in English on TV, but it is essential to understand what they are saying to their own people in their own languages in their own countries. MEMRI released four new videos on their YouTube channel today. All give us a fascinating glance into a facet of Arab/Islamic society.

Three of them are from Egypt, and give us insight into the deep divisions there between the restive Muslim Brotherhood-supporting population and the secular Arab nationalist government of Hosni Mubarak:

1. United States of Islam

In the first a cleric expresses his belief in a basic tenet of Islam; that all Muslim lands should be governed as one united Caliphate. He describes it as a "United States of Islam" in which Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Morocco for example would be subdivisions of the all-encompassing Caliphate. Look at the glee in his eyes and on the faces of his compatriots as he discusses this issue. The concept of a global Ummah is not abstract theology but a constant inspiration in these people's lives:

2. Starbucks Jewish Conspiracy

The same Egyptian cleric explains to us that Starbucks Coffee is part of the global Jewish conspiracy and must be boycotted. I give him credit for taking the time to learn the story of the Jewish holiday of Purim. But I must say his conflating of the heroine of that story, Queen Esther, with the chick on the Starbucks cups is a bit of a stretch:

3. Egyptian Government Officials are frightened of Iran, and blame Hamas (Iran's puppet) for the current predicament with Israel.

This is very important because it highlights the deep ethnic and religious divides that are tearing the Middle East apart. The men speaking are secular Egyptian government officials; notice their formal Western suits. They see a threat in the Shi'ite/Persian arc stretching from Iran through Iraq, Syria, Hezbollah-controlled Lebanon and the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. The southern frontier of that arc is at the Rafah border-crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, and the revolution is literally bursting at the seams to stoke Islamist forces in the Sinai with a goal of spreading the Islamic Revolution across Egypt and toppling the relatively secular regime in Cairo.

I have to give these men credit because they chastise Iran for denying the Holocaust and calling for Israel to be wiped off the map. They are not a democratic government but at least they have a basic level of civility that is lacking in the Islamist camp.

The last speaker denounces Shi'ite/Persian Iran, Alawite-ruled Syria and the Iranian puppets Hezballah and Hamas as "sectarians" and a threat to Egypt.

4. A Journalist I Can Respect

The final video depicts a "Liberal Lebanese journalist." I'd prefer to call him a "freedom-loving journalist with balls of steel." He stands up to speech-censoring Gulf monarchies, demanding accountability from the kings of the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia by name. He's asking pertinent questions in a part of the world where this sort of "activism" can get you in trouble with the government. He puts shame to our leftist American reporters and actors who feigned their "patriotic dissent" during the Bush years, knowing full well they would receive no punishment, and would in fact improve their stature in the entertainment industry.

Ron Silver: A good man dies...

This comes as a bit of a shock to me... I had no idea he was sick. I wasn't even aware of his Hollywood career but I remember seeing his speech at the 2004 Republican convention and saw him occasionally on news/punditry shows after that. He always came off as highly intelligent and confident in the West's eventual triumph in our current conflict. And he was one of the millions of Americans, myself included, whose politics were turned upside-down by the implications of the 9/11 attacks.

Silver, an Emmy nominee for a recurring role as a slick strategist for liberal President Jed Bartlet on "The West Wing," had a long history of balancing acting with left-leaning social and political causes.

But after the 2001 terrorist attacks, longtime Democrat Silver turned heads in Hollywood with outspoken support of President George W. Bush over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Look at what cancer had done to him by the 2008 Republican convention:

Rest in peace.

Makes sense...

Like Osama bin Laden, British Islamist Anjem Choudary went through a hedonistic phase. And like bin Laden, he was too immature and irresponsible to handle the freedoms afforded to him by modernity, and so he ran into the arms of the most insular and limiting ideology he could find. Under the Sharia Law "justice" he advocates for Britain he would have been executed many times over in his youth. He's a huge hypocrite... big surprise.

Story from the Daily Mail:

The British live 'like animals in a jungle' with their alcohol, gambling, prostitution and pornography.

That is the stated view of Anjem Choudary, the preacher of hate who this week insulted the families of dead soldiers and branded their marching comrades as cowards.

The extremist wants Britain to be brought under Sharia law, with women forced to wear burkas and put to death for adultery.

Yet before he grew his beard and turned to fundamentalism, Choudary, 41, was very much the life and soul of the party at Southampton University.

Human nature trumps multiculturalist indoctrination

It's important that you watch this clip. You can see the raw anger erupting in a crowd of ordinary British citizens who are out to welcome their local regiment home from Iraq. A group of openly treasonous jihadist Muslims had the audacity to wave signs in their faces telling the soldiers to "go to hell," calling them "the butchers of Basra" and "cowards, killers, extremists."

And why not? This openly and violently treasonous Islamic fifth-column has been able to demonstrate with impunity while those who oppose them like Dutch politician Geert Wilders have been silenced.

Here's the whitewashed BBC report where a member of parliament gives the standard "these extremists don't represent the Muslim community" bs that is required in the fascist-politically-correct police-state of Britain.

But the people are sick of these traitors, not because they speak a different language or have a different skin color, but simply because they are traitors.

Feel the anger... this is why the BNP is gaining support. Responsible conservative AND socialist politicians need to confront Islam or the people will elect a much more clumsy and messy servant, one that is crude but gets the job done. Mainstream British politicians need to wake up and listen to their constituents to ensure the continuation of their national life.

Rule Britannia!

"Arabs have shown by their conduct that tyranny is their preferred response to modernity"

Salim Mansur analyzes the collective Arab reaction to Western-spawned modernity:

Modernity, and its concept of individual rights, is Western in origin. It evolved through centuries of philosophical and political debates, and then equally long periods of war to defeat those who opposed the principle of individual liberty. Eventually modernity and its off-shoot, citizenship, prevailed over the opposition and were more or less firmly established in the West and places beyond by the end of the last century.

Arabs were in close proximity to these ideas and the struggle that accompanied them. What, it might be asked of the Arabs, was their response to modernity? Even with all the apologia and obfuscation, the answer that cannot be evaded is that the collective Arab response has shown a preference for totalitarian ideology. In the period following the end of the World War II and European colonialism, there were three ideological responses that marked out the Arabs into three groups: secular Muslims, and orthodox Muslims divided into the majority Sunni and minority Shi’i sects.

Secular Muslims were mobilized by Arab nationalism embodied in the Ba’ath party. Sunni Muslims chose Wahhabism/Salafism embodied in the politics of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Taliban. Shi’i Muslims followed Khomeinism embodied in the politics of the clerical regime in Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Sadrists in Iraq.

All three ideologies and movements they spawned are totalitarian. For all their professed belief in Islam’s sacred scripture, Arabs — given their blood-soaked history of suppressing dissent and despite their close proximity to the evolution of liberal movements in Europe — have been engaged in suppressing or eradicating any form of individual liberty while making no allowance for their opponents. Arabs have shown by their conduct that tyranny is their preferred response to modernity.

Casualty Footprint of Conflicts

Fascinating study via Augean Stables. Conclusion: the media is disproportionately obsessed with Israel.

Stealth Conflicts has an excellent illustration of what one might call the “casualty footprint” of conflicts. (I suggested a similar procedure with the media footprint of conflicts.) This is a visual way to bring forward the strikingly low casualties of the Arab-Israeli conflict. H/T: Honest Reporting

Illustrations based on figures discussed here.

Figure 1.

congo israel-palestine
Figure 2.

As a contribution to the issue of media footprint, Stealth Conflicts has a post entitled: How many people have to die in the DRC to appear in the New York Times?

Stealth Conflicts suggests this is the death toll comparison between the conflict in the DRC and the Palestine-Israeli conflict (Figure 2 above). I am sure that this estimation (based on known figures) is very close to the real figure.

We live in a globalized world, where any information shows up on a webpage in a matter of minutes. But the DRC rarely appears in the frontpage of the most important newspapers. With its absence, the media are sending us a message: depending on where you are born, your life is worth more, or less.

This is so evidently unfair and painful.

My only hope is that, forty years from now, this scandal will be seen as a problem of the past. As a symptom of the problems of a society -our developed one- that, with time, changed for better. I hope to talk about it to my grandsons in the same way afroamerican grandparents talk nowadays about Rosa Parks. Like talking about an evident problem that finally, one day, one person dared to face. And changed for good.

We need our own Rosa Parks to raise this issue. I hope she will come soon.

My guess is that you’d have to reverse the figures and increase the difference by a magnitude of 10 or even 100 to get at the media footprint. That is, it takes only the smallest casualty figures for something from the Arab-Israeli conflict to make the NYT and many column inches of the NYT, while it would take massive casualties to even get a column inch for the Congo.

These are astronomical differences: between Earth and Jupiter (casualty footprint), between Earth and the Sun (media footprint). They demand explanation.

I think that the casualty footprint can only be explained by the exceptional commitment to Israelis to human life, even among its enemies. Given the vast superiority of fire-power the Israelis have, were they desirous of killing civilians (as are the Sudanese and the Congolese), they could do massive damage.

Only the Israeli will keeps them from causing more casualties, certainly not their capacity; whereas, with these other conflicts (and with the Palestinians), one gets the impression that it’s the opposite: only their limited capacity prevents further casualties, not their will.

What a red spade for the black hearts.

UPDATE: Very witty and biting use of these graphics at Breath of the Beast

Ideological anti-Semitism masquerading as "anti-racism"

Irwin Cotler of the Jerusalem Post dissects the ideological underpinnings of the Islamic/leftist war to discredit Israel:

The first manifestation of this ideological anti-Semitism was its institutional and juridical anchorage in the "Zionism is racism" resolution at the UN. Notwithstanding the fact that the there was a formal repeal of this resolution, Zionism as racism remains alive and well in the global arena, particularly in the campus cultures of North America and Europe, as confirmed by the recent British All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Anti-Semitism.

The second manifestation is the indictment of Israel as an apartheid state. This involves more than the simple indictment; it also involves the call for the dismantling of Israel as an apartheid state as evidenced by the events at the 2001 UN World Conference against Racism in Durban.

The third manifestation of ideological anti-Semitism involves the characterization of Israel not only as an apartheid state - and one that must be dismantled as part of the struggle against racism - but as a Nazi one.

And so it is then that Israel is delegitimized, if not demonized, by the ascription to it of the two most scurrilous indictments of 20th-century racism - Nazism and apartheid - the embodiment of all evil. These very labels of Zionism and Israel as "racist, apartheid and Nazi" supply the criminal indictment. No further debate is required. The conviction that this triple racism warrants the dismantling of Israel as a moral obligation has been secured. For who would deny that a "racist, apartheid, Nazi" state should not have any right to exist today? What is more, this characterization allows for terrorist "resistance" to be deemed justifiable - after all, such a situation is portrayed as nothing other than occupation et résistance, where resistance against a racist, apartheid, Nazi occupying state is legitimate, if not mandatory.

Islam and the West: an indispensable video resource you MUST watch

Great thanks to STOPShariaLAWnow, the European queen of counter-jihad content, for posting this brilliant movie. The actual title is FAREWELL ISRAEL: Bush, Iran and the Revolt of Islam, but it's treatment of Islamic/Western interactions through 1400 years of history is so comprehensive that it does earn the title "Islam and the West". The video's message seems to be pessimistic; Israel (and the West in general) lack the understanding of what Islam represents and lack the will to confront it. But I see the message as positive... if we were completely lost why would this man put so much energy into making the film? No, this is not a surrender, this is how we start to fight back: with knowledge.

Here's Part 1:

I consider this series so important that I'm gonna go ahead and embed all 14(!) episodes on this blog entry. I hope you find the time to view it, even if it's over the course of a couple days:

Obama sends Churchill packing; literally and figuratively

Diana West writes at Town Hall:

It seems that what we are seeing in the return of the Churchill bust is less a personal vendetta against Churchill the man and more an open breach in the Western continuum out of which a new orientation toward the Third World will become increasingly apparent. Having achieved a Washington-like apotheosis in the American imagination, Churchill serves not only as the preeminent symbol of resolve, courage and faith against the enemies of Western civilization. He serves as a symbol of Western civilization, period. One of President Obama's first acts as president was to consign that symbol to a box and send it packing.

We need moderate people to come together in good faith to help find the path to relieve the human suffering on both sides of the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Vilification and false labeling is a blind alley that is unjust and takes us nowhere.

You deny Israel the fundamental right of every society to defend itself: You condemn Israel for building a security barrier to protect its citizens from suicide bombers and for striking at buildings from which missiles are launched at its cities - but you never offer an alternative. Aren't you practicing yourself a deep form of racism by denying an entire society the right to defend itself?

Your criticism is willfully hypocritical: Do Israel's Arab citizens suffer from disadvantage? You better believe it. Do African Americans 10 minutes from the Berkeley campus suffer from disadvantage - you better believe it, too. So should we launch a Berkeley Apartheid Week, or should we seek real ways to better our societies and make opportunity more available.

You are betraying the moderate Muslims and Jews who are working to achieve peace: Your radicalism is undermining the forces for peace in Israel and in the Palestinian territories. We are working hard to move toward a peace agreement that recognizes the legitimate rights of both Israel and the Palestinian people, and you are tearing down by falsely vilifying one side.

To the organizers of Israel Apartheid Week I would like to say:

If Israel were an apartheid state, I would not have been appointed here, nor would I have chosen to take upon myself this duty. There are many Arabs, both within Israel and in the Palestinian territories who have taken great courage to walk the path of peace. You should stand with us, rather than against us.

"Undercover in Little Morocco"

"Undercover in Little Morocco" is the name of a book written by the young Belgian journalist Hind Fraihi. She spent two months researching undercover among radical Muslims in Brussels. Among her shocking findings was the revelation that younger Muslims in particular are increasingly prone to violence, and not just in the cities.

"What happened had nothing to do with Jihad, but by the way we will dominate you as it was written by god..."

More fun with YouTube comments. In the video in question I discuss the actions of the Barbary Pirates against a new-born USA, and compare this episode to the Battle of Badr in which Mohammed himself established the pattern for future Jihad:

abdulbade has made a comment on Islamic Crusades 5: Why did they hate us in 1783?:

o god this guy is an idiot, what happend in the 1970s has nothing to do with jihad, its an isolated inccedent. god what an idiot.

I think he means "1780's" as opposed to "1970's" because that's the period the video focuses on. But clearly his contention is that the doctrine of Jihad and it's historical precedents had nothing to do with the actions of the Barbary Pirates.

A comment he left shortly afterward on a different video completely contradicts the above statement and completely validates my point about the dictates of Jihad being divine, eternal and irreversible:

abdulbade has made a comment on Islamic Crusades 4: Lessons From the Thai Jihad:

we will dominate, wether you like or not, there is nothing you can do about it, it was written by god before the universe was created. deal with it

So to summarize his argument, historical incidents of piracy committed by Muslims (and by extension individual terrorist acts in our own time) have NOTHING to do with Jihad or Islam... BUT... we should also note that Islam will dominate whether we like it or not because Allah ordained this outcome before the universe was even created. Got it!

In the first comment he takes the tack of post-modern writers/historians in "deconstructing" the Barbary Pirates as simple brigands who had nothing to do with any religion. In the second he falls back on his Islamic education and tells us what the really thinks. I appreciate his honesty.

OK, here's something more comprehensive...

UAC4America has a 40 minute video on the "Evening With Geert Wilders" last Friday. It includes all the little episodes I captured, and you can actually hear most of the sound! The video still sucks though... I tell you the lighting in there was rough.
