Even militant Muslims chafe under the stark realities of Sharia Law

A new Palestinian poll (Dec 3-5, 2008) shows that 40% of residents want to get the hell out of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip (compared to 25% in the West Bank).

Arab Muslims in Gaza have been free to shape their own political destiny since Israel unilaterally withdrew its soldiers and settlers from the territory in August 2005. In January 2006 a plurality of them voted a violent Islamic-supremacist movement, Hamas, into power. In June of 2007 Hamas killed 118 Arabs when they violently cleansed Fatah from the Gaza Strip. They immediately instituted Islamic government in the territory, and brought economic ruin as much of the international community boycotted the terrorist government. Apparently even fundamentalist Muslims who overwhelmingly support suicide bombing (2006 poll, see p. 10, Q18) are not happy with the realities of Shariah Law.
